Farm Silos

Steel Silos for the storage of feed, grain or pellets

Farm silos are used for the storage of feed or grain in livestock, poultry and pig farms, as well as for pellets in biomass facilities.

Our wide variety of high quality steel farm silos (farm bins) are protected by an innovative coating up to 10 times more resistant to environmental corrosion than traditional galvanisation.

Our modular design with no welding or paint utilizes steel sheeting with a shallow corrugation ensuring better storage of products with a tendency to stick on the wall sheets.

We have green pre-lacquered silos available, which comply with the regulations on environmental impact that are in force in some areas.

Technical characteristics of our farm silos

High Quality Material

Our high quality steel-made farm silos (farm bins) are protected by an innovative coating, ProMag. This new Zinc, Aluminum and Magnesium coating is up to 10 times more resistant to environmental corrosion than the traditional galvanisation. With this impressive performance we warranty our farm silos for up to 20 years against environmental corrosion*.

*Warranty applicable in zones C1 Norm ISO 9223

Environmental Compliance

Green pre-lacquered silos are also available to comply with the regulations on environmental impact that are in force in some areas. These silos have two layers of lacquered paint on galvanised sheet metal, one on the outside and one on the inside, which reinforces resistance to corrosive agents.

Smooth corrugation

The short-pitch corrugation of the sheet minimizes product sticking inside the silo. Our silos have the shallowest corrugation in the market.

Reinforced Roof

Our farm silos are manufactured with reinforced ribbed roofing and drip edge to achieve high resistance against deformations. Additionally, we have integrated a horizontal platform on the roof, facilitating safe and convenient silo inspection and maintenance.

Reliable Opening Mechanism

Operated by a sturdy lever, our top cover ensures a safe and convenient opening mechanism, preventing accidental openings even in strong winds.

Standardized Safety Ladder

We’ve designed a ladder compliant with UNE-EN ISO 14122 standards, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations for secure access.

Advantages of our Farm Silos

Superior Corrosion Resistance

ProMag coating offers corrosion protection 10 times superior to galvanized steel and 5 times superior to galvanized steel Z-600 (600 g/m2), according to ISO 9223 Standard.

Lower Long-Term Costs

Choosing farm silos with ProMag coating ensures a cost-effective long-term investment, avoiding expensive repairs or replacements.

Preservation of Stored Product Quality

Increased protection in the silo translates to better preservation of the quality of the stored product.

Environmental Responsibility

ProMag coating positively contributes to environmental care by using less zinc than pure zinc coatings.

Frequently Asked Questions about Farm Silos

What is a farm silo and what is it used for?

A farm silo is a storage structure specifically designed to store and protect feed or grains on livestock farms. It is also suitable for storing pellets for biomass boiler feed.

What are the main characteristics of farm silos?

Farm silos are typically made of high-quality steel and feature a protective coating to resist corrosion. Additionally, they may have modular designs, reinforced roofs, standardized access stairs, and options for lateral or central discharge.

What capacity do farm silos usually have?

The capacity of farm silos can vary depending on the size of the farm and the amount of feed needed to be stored. Generally, they can have capacities ranging from about 6 to 60 cubic meters, approximately 3,500 to 35,000 kilograms.

What is the lifespan of a farm silo?

The lifespan of a farm silo can depend on various factors such as the type of material used in its construction, weather conditions, and proper maintenance. However, with good maintenance, many silos can last for decades.

How to install a farm silo

Installing a farm silo requires the preparation of a leveled and stable base, followed by the assembly of the silo structure, usually done with specialized equipment and trained personnel. They can also be delivered disassembled if requested by the customer, which is common for exports and very rarely in the domestic market.

What safety measures should be considered when working with farm silos?

It is important to follow established safety regulations for working at heights and in industrial environments. Additionally, extra precautions should be taken when handling heavy equipment and accessing ladders and elevated platforms. Our silos feature angled steps for a secure grip, sufficient depth for full foot support, anti-fall rings, and a roof inspection platform, according to UNE-EN ISO 14122: we comply with regulations.

How to choose the right silo for my farm?

To choose the right farm silo, it is important to consider factors such as the necessary storage capacity, available space, terrain characteristics, and customization options offered by the manufacturer. Consulting with industry experts is also recommended.
