Silos Spain continues to expand its presence in Mexico with the installation of a new 5,000-tonne flat-bottom steel silo for corn storage in the state of Guanajuato.

The project is approaching the final stages of construction, with significant progress made on the assembly of the silo roof. Measuring 22.92 metres in diameter, the silo incorporates ventilation, temperature monitoring and mechanised unloading systems to support efficient grain preservation and handling.

Technical Features of the Corn Storage Silo

The project includes an ANSI 22.92/12 steel silo, designed for large-scale corn storage and part of our range of steel grain storage silos.

Its main technical features include:

  • Storage capacity: 5,000 tonnes of corn.
  • Model: ANSI 22.92/12 flat-bottom steel silo.
  • Diameter: 22.92 metres.
  • Ventilation: aeration grilles and two centrifugal fans.
  • Temperature monitoring: CTC system to monitor grain storage conditions.
  • Unloading: internal sweep auger and lateral discharge system.
  • Additional equipment: maximum and minimum level detectors and access ladders.

Ventilation and Temperature Monitoring for Optimal Corn Preservation

Proper corn preservation requires effective control of storage conditions, particularly temperature and airflow, to minimise the risk of grain deterioration.

For this reason, the silo incorporates a ventilation system with aeration grilles and two centrifugal fans that promote airflow through the stored grain.

In addition, the CTC temperature monitoring system allows operators to monitor internal silo conditions and detect temperature fluctuations that may require corrective action.

Mechanised Unloading and Maintenance

To facilitate unloading operations, the silo is equipped with a TSB02 internal sweep auger and a lateral discharge system.

The sweep auger helps remove the grain remaining on the silo floor during the final unloading stage, reducing manual intervention and improving operational efficiency.

The facility also includes maximum and minimum level detectors, together with access ladders that facilitate inspection and maintenance tasks.

Corn Storage Solutions in Mexico

This project in Guanajuato forms part of Silos Spain’s expansion in Latin America, where we are developing new facilities for grain storage and handling.

With extensive international experience in the engineering, manufacturing and supply of steel grain silos, we continue to deliver storage solutions tailored to each project’s requirements, integrating grain preservation, monitoring and mechanised unloading systems.
