The pellet storage plant in Figueira da Foz (Portugal) is now fully operational. Following the completion of assembly and commissioning works, the facility is ready to ensure the safe and efficient storage of pellets, one of the most widely used solid biofuels in the energy sector.

This biomass storage project in Portugal strengthens our international presence and responds to the growing demand for reliable and efficient solutions for pellet handling and storage.

Pellet Storage Facility Designed for Efficiency and Safety

The installation consists of two hopper steel silos, model 04.58/10, specifically engineered for industrial pellet storage applications, ensuring optimal performance in biomass handling environments.

Key technical features of this pellet storage plant include:

  • Reinforced roof, designed to support the installation of specialized equipment for pneumatic pellet loading.

  • Pneumatic loading systems, including piping and custom adaptations for efficient bulk handling of pellets.

  • Explosion vent panels, installed on both the roof and the silo wall, allowing controlled pressure and flame release in the event of a deflagration, enhancing safety when storing combustible materials.

  • ATEX-certified overpressure and vacuum relief valves, ensuring safe operation in explosive atmospheres.

  • Seismic reinforcements, compliant with UBC (1997), adapted to local conditions (seismic acceleration up to 0.11g).

  • Spiral staircases over 17 meters high, providing safe and convenient access for inspection and maintenance.

Steel Silos with High Corrosion Resistance

The silos are manufactured using ProMag-coated steel, a zinc, aluminum, and magnesium alloy that provides up to 10 times greater corrosion resistance than standard galvanized steel. This advanced coating ensures long-term durability in biomass storage environments while reducing environmental impact by minimizing zinc usage.

Complete Biomass Storage Solution

The project scope included not only the design and supply of the pellet storage silos, but also technical support and on-site assembly supervision, ensuring precise execution throughout all phases of the installation.

With this pellet storage plant now fully operational, we continue to deliver solutions tailored to the real needs of the energy sector, focusing on safety, efficiency, and reliable day-to-day performance.
